02 Why us

That truck backed up your driveway carries our name, and every mover loading it draws a Space City Movers paycheck

Book us and the truck rolling up your street is titled to Space City Movers, with our own uniformed movers walking your sofa out the door — no stranger ever lays a hand on your things. A broker runs it backward: it auctions your job to whoever bids cheapest that week, collects once you sign, and leaves a carrier you never met to figure the rest out on the day.

Space City Movers
  • Our own uniformed, background-checked movers run the whole job — we never hire day labor or hand your home off to whichever carrier had a truck open that morning
  • The flat number you approve is the number you pay — the final bill lands on the same figure, to the dollar
  • Whoever loads the first box in Dayton is whoever carries the last box into the new place — the same crew, both ends
  • Texas (TxDMV) household-goods registration, USDOT/MC authority for interstate runs, and full coverage riding on every load
  • One local Dayton office and the same name on the phone, with you from the first question through the last box across the threshold
What a broker does
  • Hands your move to whatever outfit underbids the rest the week you happen to call
  • Lets the total balloon on load day with fees nobody mentioned when you booked
  • Sends everything you own off on a rig crewed by people you were never introduced to
  • Goes quiet about whose policy pays the second something shows up dented or scratched
  • Parks a call center between you and the movers, so the folks holding your boxes stay a transfer or two away
03 How we quote

Flat rate.
In writing.
No hourly meter.

We walk your real inventory first, then commit it to one binding figure before a single box leaves the room — there is no meter ticking while the total creeps up. What the quote says is what the move costs, and it stands on load day whether the lot is gravel, the home sits raised on piers, or the driveway is a long carry from the truck.

Set once, then it holds

a walkthrough at your place or a quick video tour fixes the flat rate, and nothing nudges it afterward

Nothing tacked on at the end

no fuel add-on for the Gulf-heat run, no flight charge for the high-rise condo, no long-carry line for the deep gravel drive

One crew, both ends

the Space City Movers crew that loads you up in Dayton is the same crew that sets you down wherever the move lands

04 Keeping your move safe

The wrap that goes on for a calm spring morning is the same wrap that goes on when a storm is spinning in the Gulf

Every truck leaves the yard loaded with pads, stretch film, and shrink wrap, so dressers stay blanketed and drawers stay shut whether we are easing a sectional out of a Kingwood two-story, clearing a four-bedroom on acreage past Dayton, or working a condo down from a Heights high-rise. When hurricane and flood season runs from June into November, we keep an eye on the Gulf, load at dawn before the heat and the afternoon rain build, and roll out runners and door pads so humidity, mud, and a sudden downpour never reach your floors — and we work raised and flood-zone homes the way they have to be worked, off the slab and up the piers.

Quilted pads

Dressers, dining tables, and headboards get blanketed right where they sit, padded up before anything heads toward a doorway or onto the truck ramp.

Stretch film

Drawers stay shut and cushions stay clean, sealed against the Gulf-Coast humidity and a stray afternoon shower on the walk out to the truck.

Floor & entry guards

Before any box moves, the crew lays runners across tile and wood, pads the door jambs, and protects the threshold — so on a raised or flood-aware home the floors look the same on our way out as on our way in.

Built-to-fit crating

A mirror, a glass tabletop, a framed canvas, a wall-mounted screen — we measure each one in place and box it in a crate cut to its size before it leaves the room.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, dining sets, and sectionals come apart so they clear tight hallways and condo elevators, then the crew puts each one back together once it is inside the new home.

Straps, dollies & gear

A high-rise elevator window, a long carry from a gravel drive, or the single heaviest piece in the house — each gets the right tie-downs and rigging, and the full kit rides on every truck.

05 How it works
1

Send over the details

Both addresses, the date you have your eye on, and how big the home is — a couple of minutes, with nothing owed yet.

2

We put the flat number in writing

We walk your real inventory, weigh the access and the carry, and pin it to one figure you can hold us to.

3

The crew shows up set

Uniformed and background-checked, on time, loaded out early to beat the Gulf heat, with pads and floor protection ready for the day.

4

Wrapped up at the quoted figure

We load, we haul, we put each room back together — and the final bill reads the same number you approved.

Run out of Dayton, rolling across Greater Houston

The crew at your curb is on the Space City Movers payroll — never a subcontractor’s

Every truck on the road is ours and every one is staffed by full-time Space City Movers employees, so a single team carries your Dayton move the whole way through — from the first box out the door to the last one set down in the new place.

09 Our coverage

Out of our Dayton yard, no corner of Greater Houston is off our trucks’ route

10 Good to know

The questions Greater Houston movers put to us before booking

Are you a moving company?
Yes — we are a moving company, full stop. Space City Movers holds Texas TxDMV registration and USDOT/MC authority, carries full license and insurance across Greater Houston, and rolls out on our own trucks behind uniformed crews. The trucks are ours and the movers are on our payroll — nothing brokered out, nobody subcontracted.
How is the price worked out?
We start with a quick walkthrough at your place or a video tour. Working from your real inventory — and a look at the access, the carry, and whether the home sits raised — we commit one flat rate to writing, with no hourly meter underneath. That figure covers the whole job.
What kind of lead time should I give you on the date?
Late spring through hurricane season tends to be busiest, and end-of-month weekends book up first, so give those three or four weeks of lead time when you can. Weekday, mid-month, and cooler-season slots tend to open sooner, and when a crew has the day free we are glad to take a same-week or last-minute job.
What sorts of moves does your crew take on?
Everything from local jobs around Dayton and across Liberty County to long hauls out I-10, I-45, or US-59 to most of the country. Master-planned Kingwood and Atascocita homes, brick-on-slab houses on big rural lots, Heights townhomes and high-rise condos — all routine for us. A piano, a gun safe, a case of antiques — those ride with us just the same.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Space City Movers carries Texas (TxDMV) household-goods registration, USDOT/MC authority for interstate work, and full cargo and liability coverage. If a building, HOA, or condo board needs a certificate of insurance, send over the requirement and a same-day COI is almost always on its way.
Can you handle a high-rise condo or a raised, flood-zone home?
That is a big part of the work here. Downtown and Heights high-rise elevator windows, townhome stairs, long carries from gravel drives on acreage, and homes raised on piers in flood-prone areas are all everyday for us — give us the address and the access details and we plan the loadout and the carry before the truck arrives.
Have a piano, a gun safe, or something seriously heavy?
Not a problem — uprights, baby grands, and full grands are regular jobs, and the crew shows up with the boards, straps, and rigging the piece needs. Gun safes, heavy antiques, and oversized art get the same slow, deliberate handling, tight doorways and all.
Do you pack, and do you supply the boxes?
We do — book a full pack and we box the whole house, or a partial and we cover just the rooms full of breakables. The boxes, paper, and tape ride in on our truck.
